H&R Block Bank has replaced its top-paying six-month CD special with a three-month promotional rate.

The online bank owned by the well-known tax preparer had led our September rankings of the best six-month CD rates by offering 2.00% APY with a $10,000 minimum deposit.

Now it's over, and H&R Block Bank has a new special -- 1.50% APY on a three-month CD with a minimum deposit of $5,000 that's good through Nov. 9.

As of Oct. 15, we know of only one nationally available offer that's better -- 1.65% APY from TotalBank.
